Career & Studies
EVIL EMPIRE
First long-term position,
first full production cycle!
Since 2021, I've been working as Gameplay Programmer at Evil Empire Studio, a french game production studio located in Bordeaux. I briefly worked on Dead Cells' live-ops, and then joined the pre-production of an unannounced project.
It's been a few thrilling years now, and it was a real challenge to work on a full production cycle! I learned a lot, and got interests in Technical Direction.

MISC EXPERIENCES
Steam, GDC, Internships...
Discovering the game industry
in various ways!
Before entering the game industry "for real", I had the occasion to release two games on Steam: Live Adventure and Lights Orb.
Live Adventure was selected as Best Student Game at GDC 2022! It was a great experience to present our game and meet other game developers. I also presented Tied Escape at GDC 2019, selected for the Alt. Ctrl. category.
I firstly discovered the industry through Internships, the most important one being at Rebound CG, working on Tennis Manager 2021.

RUBIKA GAME
Making games since 2016!
I studied video games at Rubika Game, a french school located in Valenciennes. I first studied Game Design during 3 years. I worked on a lot of different projects (board game, zelda-like, mobile games...), and developed skillls and interests for programming.
Therefore, I integrated the Programming Master, and used my design sensitivity to work very iteratively on prototypes, along with designers.

Skills & Work Philosophy
TECHNICAL SKILLS
The most reliable wrenches
from my Toolbox!
I've developed most of my projects with Unity, in C#. It's a framework I am very confortable with, for long term projects (at Evil Empire) as well as for smaller games (Jams).
I also worked a lot with Unreal Engine during my studies (both my Steam Games were made with UE). I mostly used nodal code, but also dived into C++ from time to time.
I had the occasion to discover more unusual languages and tools during my professional experiences. On Tennis Manager 2021, I developed the UI screens with XAML. Dead Cells was entirely developed in Haxe, with the Heaps engine. Adapting to new tools was a great opportunity to train my learning skills!

WORK INTERESTS
How I like to use my tools
(and customize my Toolbox)
As a Gameplay Programmer, I have an appetance for Technical Direction, and yearn to create sane development environments for my colleagues. I like clean hierarchies which allows to iterate and produce comfortably. Notably, I have an interest for Systems and Tools. More recently, I started to work more deeply on UI, where hierarchy is really important.
Thanks to my Game Designer background, I am confortable translating design intentions into precise implementations, and iterating through prototypes. I am very meticulous with readability, and try to be player-oriented first.
CURIOSITY & FLEXIBILITY
Try before saying you don't like...
So I'm always willing to
make my Toolbox bigger!
This is, I bellieve, my most precious skill. I love the thrill of learning new things, whether is is new programming fields (technical direcion, UI, rendering...) or development tools (Haxe, XAML...). This allows me to know a little bit of eveything, and discover what I love most.
While studying, I also learned to use a variety of softwares to create my own contents. This includes several softs form the Adobe Suite: PhotoShop and InDesign for visuals, AfterEffect and PremierePro for gameplay trailers.

My Passions!
IMPROV THEATER
& ACTING (RP)
Who said programmers
did not like the spotlight?
Since 2023, I am part of an improvisational theater troupe: Les p'tits joueurs! (in Shakespeare's toungue, "The lil' players"). We have weekly courses to train our improv skills, and perform on stage several times a month!
My love for the stage and acting isn't new: I was part of a classical theater troupe during my studies. Together, we created and played 3 original theater plays.
When I'm not on stage, I also like to play Role-Playing games with frends, where we are also very invested in our characters. My favorite part about it is creating various and deep characters, and developing them throughout the game.

ASSOCIATIVE WORK
Giving my best to
make things happen!
I've been part of several associations, mostly as secretary. This includes my improv troupe, in which I am also responsible for the Communication: It's basically producing work, where the goal is to make everyone know about how awesome our troupe is!
I am currently part of my company's Business and Social Council.
During my studies, I've been active in two student associations, where I participated in the organisation of events such as Proms, student weekends, goodies orders...
VIDEO GAMES
I mean... Obviously, right?
More and more, I've become fond of solo, concise and meaningful game experiences. Here are a few solo games that deeply marked me:
-
Outer Wilds, for its brilliant design and powerful emotional impacts.
-
Celeste, for delivering a brilliant message of self care and determination, with a matching and challenging gameplay.
-
NieR:Automata (yeaaaah, not so concise, but still), for making me have an existential crisis about life, death and love.
And before this gets any longer, here is a non-exhaustive list of genres and games I love:
-
Puzzles: Golden Idol, Obra Dinn, Patrick's Parabox, Chants of Sennaar, The Witness
-
Rogue-Likes/Lites: FTL, Invisible Inc., Dead Cells, Balatro, Enter the Gungeon
-
Platformers & Metroid-Vanias: Ori series, Hollow Knight, Sonic Adventure 2
-
Misc: SOMA, It Takes Two, Terraria
